Comma Groups are a vital part of how IUCC members connect as a community. Groups meet once a month from October through April for food, fellowship, and supportive conversation. Over one-third of our members participated in a Comma Group last year. Whether you’re new to Comma Groups this year or returning for your sixth year, please signup for Comma Groups online.
We would love to have you join us in this wonderful time. If you’d like to join a group, contact Steve Swope.
The term “Comma Group” is inspired by the Gracie Allen quote, “Never place a period where God has placed a comma.” The UCC Comma is a new way to proclaim “Our Faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not.” The Comma invites us to believe that God speaks through other people, nature, music, art, a theorem, the Bible, and in so many other ways.
Sample Comma Group Topics:
- What do the sacraments mean to us?
- Who bears responsibility for the presence of evil in the world – God or us?
- What does it mean to become a Creation Justice/Green Faith Church?
- How can we talk about God in ways that affirm progressive, scientific ideas?
