The Grammy-nominated Northwest Boychoir and Music Director Joseph Crnko will present seven public

concerts in Seattle and California July 5 – 16 as part of its two-week 2017 California Concert Tour.

Performances include concerts in Seattle, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Ventura, Beverly Hills, La Cañada and

Irvine. The professional-level, 32-member Northwest Boychoir will present a program that includes

Mendelssohn, Poulenc and Vivaldi and more.

Under the direction of Joseph Crnko, the Northwest Boychoir is one of the premier children’s choir in the

nation, with an organization that has more than 200 members. The 32-members of the touring Northwest

Boychoir range in age from 10 to 14, and perform regularly with the Seattle Symphony, on movie and video

game soundtracks, in professional recording studios, and as part of their own year-round schedule of concerts.

Every boy with the musical talent and drive to succeed is accepted into the program, regardless of financial

This tour marks the Northwest Boychoir’s 25th national or international tour in 43 years. Prior tours have taken

the choir to Great Britain, Eastern Europe, Washington, D.C., Australia Canada, throughout the United States,

as well as Japan and Mexico.

“Our boys are ambassadors for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest,” says Crnko. “Wherever they travel,

they unite audiences through the power of outstanding choral music while being immersed in the rich

and diverse cultures of the places they visit. ”

The Northwest Boychoir is firmly woven into the cultural fabric of the Puget Sound and has delighted

audiences with its annual A Festival of Lessons & Carols for 38 years. The Seattle Symphony leads a long list

of professional arts groups that rely on the talents of the Boychoir. In January the choir performed Messiaen’s

Trois petites liturgies de la Prèsence Divine with the Seattle Symphony, as well recent performances of Ravel’s

L’enfant et les Sortileges. The year, the Northwest Boychoir also completed recording for the soundtrack of

Cirque du Soleil’s new production Volta.

“Working with the Northwest Boychoir was a great experience,” said Michael Giacchino, Oscar-winning

composer, following a recording session. “I was in awe of their sound.”

Joseph Crnko, in his 33rd year as Music Director of the Northwest Boychoir, is originally from Southern

California. He is Associate Conductor for Choral Activities at the Seattle Symphony and also regularly conducts

orchestral and choral recording sessions for movie and video game soundtracks. Among his many projects are

the films The Last Stand, Let Me In, Boondock Saints, The Celestine Prophecy, and such video games

as Halo, Medal of Honor, and World of Warcraft.
