Rev. Traci Blackmon, Poor People’s Campaign leader, speaking March 30

The Rev. Traci Blackmon

The Rev. Traci Blackmon, acting executive minister of Justice and Witness Ministries for the United Church of Christ, will be the featured speaker for Faith & Works 2019 at Irvine United Congregational Church. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Tickets for the event range in price from $10 to $25.

Blackmon was deeply involved in the protests around Michael Brown’s killing in Ferguson, Missouri, and she has joined with the Rev. William Barber and others on a new Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival.

Blackmon will be speaking twice on Saturday, March 30. Lunch will be available between her two addresses, and the Rev. James Lawson has tentatively committed to be the featured lunch speaker. Lawson, pastor emeritus of Holman United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, was a colleague of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and still speaks on nonviolence and social change.

Child care will be available by reservation. For ticket details and to purchase tickets,  go to:
