Join IUCC Stephen Ministry for a thought-provoking event as they proudly present "P.I.E Day." As a part of their ongoing educational series, the Stephen Ministry has invited Pam Rocker, the executive director of Affirming Connections, to lead a roundtable discussion centered around the essential principles of Public, Intentional, and Explicit (P.I.E) work in the context of fostering an Open & Affirming Congregation.

This event is a testament to their commitment to active listening and the creation of a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community to share their personal stories. Gain insight into the diverse experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community, shedding light on the world we aspire to construct. Beyond the journey of becoming affirming, the event delves into the tangible manifestations of an affirming congregation and the role each of us plays in cultivating such an environment. With an engaging 45-minute roundtable followed by a Q&A session, all while relishing a light lunch and delectable pie, this event welcomes everyone to come with curiosity and a desire to learn. The acronym PIE stands for Public, Intentional, and Explicit—a framework that defines the standards for creating affirming, welcoming, and inclusive communities.

Pam Rocker, an extraordinary activist, affirming consultant, celebrated writer, speaker, and musician, will lead the discourse. Notably, Pam Rocker was honored as a Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine.
